Honor: Prof. Klaus M. Schmidt awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Economics
Prof. Schmidt received an honorary doctorate degree from the Université de Fribourg.
In his Laudatio, Prof. Thierry Madiès, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, paid special tribute to Prof. Schmidt for his research, in which “he made seminal contributions to contract theory and behavioral economics, in particular the theory of social preferences. Due to the innovative combination of these fields in his works, he became a pioneer of behavioral contract theory and is one of the most important German speaking economists.”

Commenting on the prestigious recognition, Prof. Schmidt says: "I feel particularly connected to Switzerland through many joint projects with colleagues there. That is why the honorary doctorate from the University of Fribourg is a special honor and great pleasure for me."
